I'm looking to stand up a home server for personal email and webhosting on a moderate-traffic site. Should I get a used G4 Cube or Tower (cheapest G4 I can find) or use something like my G3 Lombard? I think OS/X would be a more robust system on a G4? Any ideas would be helpful....I am sitting on a 1.1Meg SDSL line.

A cube would be satisfactory but a G4 tower would benefit you better. The lombard does not really server well in this application, although it will work and I know several who are. Your hard drive isn't fast enough, the data pathways are slower and it lacks the L2 cache (and possible L3 on the new G4's). For a moderate site, you can use just about anything. If you want to do it right, go for the G4.
