Can you use OS X Server as a wireless base sattion and a router for your LAN. I have read threads on the Basestation software, will that work in OS X? What kind of a performance could I expect to using OS X as the wireless router/station. And what kind of performance hit can I expect by using it as LAN router for ehternet connections.
Would any one recommend this over using a wireless station/router, or just a LAN router?

I know the wireless station will give me better distance, and if the OSX server goes down, it won't go down with it so people can still surf. Any other thoughts

If I were you I'd buy a dedicated piece of hardware for routing. Most routers that'd fit your needs really aren't that expensive anymore.

It's kind of a waste of an expensive G4 workstation running an expensive server OS in my opinion.

If you want to use a computer for that, use linux on a low end intel system. I'd for the the dedicated router though.
