After a weekend for a dozen OS X Server reinstalls because of the Blue Screen of Death (thank Alex on telling me what not to do) I am scared to install OS 9.

I wan to install OS 9 on the same partition that OS X Server is on. Before I always installed a clean OS 9 before I installed OS X Server. But this past time I skipped OS 9 altogether. But now I want it.

Can I just boot of the OS 9.1 install cd and install it on the same partition as X Server? When I tried it, it wouldn't allow me to do so.

Thank you,

For an unknown reason, 9 won't install on a partition containing X. The trick: install 9 on another partition, and before restarting, copy all the 9 folders to the X partition; trash the 9 folders from the nopn-X partitions. If necessary, remove the Finder from the System Folder before emptying the Trash.

And there you go.

that reminds us that 9 is indeed a smalll-easy-moveable system compared to X!
