When I use mail from the command line (e.g., "mail localuser") I get the error message

/etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 81: fileclass: cannot open /etc/mail/local-host-names: Group writable directory

The file local-host-names is read-only, and the /etc/mail directory is not groupd writeable.

So...... Any help?

To answer my own questions:

It seems MacOS X Server installs with the incorrect directory permissions. So, to fix it:

chmod go-w / /etc /etc/mail /usr /var /var/spool /var/spool/mqueue
chown root / /etc /etc/mail /usr /var /var/spool /var/spool/mqueue
