I have 2 kinds of "clients" on my OS X network: "Proper" clients, where users have their accounts (including home dir) on the server .. these seem to work fine. I also have a number of "Guest" clients where users have accounts on the client itself, and only need the server for applications (i.e. only log in as guests).

My problem is while the latter seems to basically work, after some time (anywhere from immediate to a couple of days), the directories from the Server (Apps and Users) disappear ... and usually point to the local start-up disk. I'm connecting via AFS, not NFS, and also don't have any time-out enabled for idle users. Apple talk is not running on any of the machines.

Any help much appreciated ... I haven't seen this discussed in the Apple discussion boards either,

Cheers.
