When using the user manager, home directories and other things are created when addding a user. How do I hide a user such as "mysql" or any other system type user?

back in macos x server 1.0 there used to be a user setting in user settings which altered a property in netinfo (called something like "nologin"). setting this flag stopped the user from logging in via the gui, but still allowed the account to operate. maybe this mechanism still exists in macos x server 10...
You can also create the user directly in NetInfo. This is pretty low-level and not for the squeamish, but it won't automatically create the homedir and stuff.
