Hello. There have been several releases and versions of products with the "Mac OS X Server" name from Apple. I'm not going to be able to give you an exact timeline, but the original
Mac OS X Server 1.0 was announced at Macworld Expo San Francisco 1999:
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/1999...osxserver.html
Mac OS X Server 1.0-1 Update and
Mac OS X Server 1.0-2 Update were free updates to Mac OS X Server 1.0.
Mac OS X Server 1.2 included bugfixes and additional hardware support;
Mac OS X Server 1.2v3 included further support for the Power Mac G4.
Mac OS X Server 1.x had the old "NeXTish"/Rhapsody interface, and was a precursor and, I believe, really a placeholder while Apple made the Mac OS X Server family what it really wanted it to be.
Mac OS X Server 10.0.3 was the first public release of the new Mac OS X Server, based on the current Mac OS X architecture, and featuring Aqua.
Mac OS X Server 10.0.4 (2G5) is the latest release of Mac OS X Server as I write this. There will probably be a version of Mac OS X Server that goes alongside the forthcoming Mac OS X 10.1 release as well.
See the Mac OS X Server home page for more information:
