10.1.1 For Server?

Is 10.1.1 for the Server version of OS X? Can I just download the 10.1.1 package off of the Apple site and install it? I used Software Update a couple of days ago and it showed the 10.1.1 update but then the computer froze while downloading. Now, Software Update cannot find any updates that my computer needs while the "About this Mac" box says I'm still running Server 10.1.

Please help.

Thanks.

The update installed fine on my machine, but then I am having all sorts of problems (see this thread).

I installed it using software update. Given that your installation failed in the middle, you may have to delete the reciept to get it to show up again.

If you want to try to re install ANY pkg that was installed by Software updater, (Including one that faled like your case) Delete the "reciept" for that pkg in /Library/Reciepts/

Then run software updater.

I did that, but it still didn't come up in Software Update again. I downloaded the package from Apple.com and installed it. It installed fine, but About this Mac doesn't reveal anything new (still build 5K10).

Someone elsewhere explained that the "About this Mac" is showing the server version not the System version. If you check the version elsewhere you'll see that it has been updated to 5M28.

However, I wish I had waited. Since updating our server to 10.1.1 our netboot computers are falling like dominoes. They boot fine but within a few minutes to an hour start freezing. Until re-booted a frozen client seems to drag the whole network down. I've gotten no feedback from anyone else experiencing this so perhaps it's just our installation.

The actual 10.1.1 update for OS X server has just been released. The interesting thing is that they say you should install 10.1 server then 10.1.1 for the client and then update to 10.1.1 server. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120088

The Mac OS X Server 10.1.1 update delivers improved reliability and performance of Apple file services, Apache web and Mail services under heavy load. Enhancements have also been made to improve server administration, SMB printer sharing, WINS registration and system clock accuracy.

Apple doesn't read these message boards. If you have a complaint or suggestion for OS X send feedback where it will do some good.
