Hi all.
I've put myself in a bizarre situation, and I have a question. I'm moving, and so my house is slowing being transformed into nothing but boxes. Somewhere along the line, I boxed up all of my Mac software, and I have no idea where in the giant pile of boxes it is. This box contains my Office v.X installation CD.
Now for the fun part: yesterday, I got a deal I couldn't turn down on a 12" PB. But all of my software is boxed up.
Now, the PB came with a 30-day trial version of office, which is great, but can anyone tell me if this version is going to screw me somehow? I just need it for plain-jane writing at the moment, but I'd hate to produce some text and find out later that it won't work with my official copy of Office.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
Scott

It should work fine for 30 days. (I recall hearing there are a few features the Test Drive doesn't have, but I forget the details.)
When you finally get your Office CD, you should be certain to completely Remove the Office X testDrive before installing the real Office X. Failure to do so causes problems. See this Microsoft Office X Bulletin for details.

Thanks! If only I could find the box labeled "Mac Stuff" I'd be in great shape, but alas....
For the time being, I've got it installed on my desktop and my old iBook (which is being shipped off Monday), so I'm ok.
Thanks for the heads up about removing the test drive.
Cheers

plus, if you're just worried about losing "text" you can always just type things in TextEdit.

Sure. That's what I'll probably do anyway. I was just curious.

I have found that copying my ~/Library/Preferences as well as the Microsoft User Data folder has kept my serialization in order.
