Someone is out to make a new Fire/Proteus...

Can be downloaded from: http://www.lim.com.au/UnI/

and the thread where I found it: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...s.cfm?t=100196

Give this guy a hand, maybe we can stir up some more competition in the field of.... instant.. messaging-ness.

ahh whatever

I've tried it with my MSN account. Though.... I can't send messages... well I can, as long as someone sends me a message first.

But anyway, the way it imports all of your MSN contacts is quite amazing. Compared to Proteus and Fire which seem to only be able to add the contacts as they come online.

Wouldn't it be great if these developers could just work on the one program?

Not very OS X-ish, IMHO. For starters, the expansion arrow has to be double-clicked, something that us mac users always only need a single click. The look also needs some cleaning up (higher-res icons, etc).

Do we really need another entrant into this already crowded space (Fire, Proteus, Adium, not to mention each service's own client ala AIM, iChat, Yahoo, MSN).

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output

It looks pretty elite. I'm sure he could make it more Aquaish tho.

Looks good to me - very basic, but typing notifications are there, making it very usable.
