It seems this is a pretty common problem... I've just read about this with other routers too elswhere.
Some, but not all, of the router's webpage settings are not working when I use Safari. I thought my new router was #@%@#%#@'d up because a few of the settings simply wouldn't take. The initial PPPoE setup was fine, but the help screen (a popup, and no I don't have popups turned off) and the Firewall settings just wouldn't work. Then I tried Internet Explorer and it worked fine.
Router is a SMC70044VWBR. All-in-one 802.11b router with 4 LAN ports, 128 WEP, and MAC address filtering. Instructions are PC oriented but I guess I can't complain since I only paid <$35 for it (refurb). Locked up once (uh oh), but hasn't since I updated the firmware (which can be done thru the webpage), and iChat and MS Remote Desktop work fine.
I wonder if this problem has something to do with Safari's cache setup.

If you have pop-ups disabled, try turning them back on and give it a try.

I had a similar problem setting up my DSL, Safari could not be used to set up the modem.

Popups are not disabled.
Does IE work in Panther? I'd hate to be stuck without full access to my router from my TiBook once I install Panther. (I haven't tried Camino with the router though.)

Try the Camino/Netscape/Mozilla route if you get problems with using Safari. (Who needs IE anyway?)

I think it's a webcore issue. I have it with my negear too.
NS 7 and Mozilla work fine though.
