Hi,

I've generated and posted the final patch set for compiling OpenOffice.org 1.1 RC3 for X11. See Issue # 17274 for all the patches if anyone wants to try it themselves. These patches will hopefully go into CVS over the next day or two, and then we'll have a fully buildable 1.1 for OS X before the release. Note that these patches do NOT include extra OS X functionality that our 1.0.3 GM had, like extra printing and font support. But hey, it runs!

For all you people who are saying "I won't use it until Aqua", well, that's where we are now going. Getting 1.1 building with gcc 3.3 on OS X was the first step toward really doing this. Next, we are moving NeoOffice to OOo 1.1 base, and that will be Cool.

Don't support StarDivision or anything that descends from it. StarDivision had as dubious business practices as Microsoft maybe.

I pity anybody who naively contributes to their open source efforts.

StarDivision? They died over four years ago when Sun bought StarOffice.

They didn't die, they were taken over by Sun. That means Sun has taken over their assets and duties - including that they factually owe me money.

Don't support people that defraud people of money.

OOOOO a new version of OO.o...time to download. You guys are great.

As for Developer, contact Sun with your gripe. The people working on OO.o have zero to do with Star Division.

He's right, I have nothing to do with StarDivision. I am not paid by Sun/Star. OOo is free.

In any case, there will probably be binaries in the near future of a stock 1.1 distribution for the "bleeding edge" types.

I am just pointing out whom they are helping. Sure you can contribute your work to a company of lies and false promises for free. But don't expect me to have respect for that.
(I'm talking about the original Star Division here, not Sun)

So whenever you use that code, or even contribute to it, you should be aware where it comes from.

Well, we've already got the NeoOffice project in mostly-Aqua mode, but lots needs to be done. Now that 1.1 is up, we're going to be going faster. Later this summer we'll have some alphas or something based off 1.1.

i have no idea what you're talking about. that's like saying contributing to mozilla is bad because AOL funded it.

Sweet!
I'm still on 1.01 because of some major problem in 1.03 (that I haven't had time to track down and bug). I hope this fixes it.

There's nothing better than using oh so sweet proprietary office suites with no problems from version to version(if you can afford it).
