I asked this in the iMac area, but got no replys, so I thought I would try here:

Hello, it is almost the start of another school year for me and I was wondering if it is possible to do what I want to. I have 27 iMacs and 1 eMac in the lab and I want to set up 1 of the computers and then copy the set up to the other computers. Is this possible. Also, I want the middle school students in OS X and K-5 in OS 9, should I set up 2 partitions or just 1?
Thanks for your help!!!

"Set Network Startup Disk enables you to set the start-up disk of one or more of the computers on your network to be a Netboot image. Or set the start-up to be a Network Install image. That means with a few clicks you can set up or update an entire lab of computers."

I wouldn't think two partitions would be necessary.

The easiest way to do what you want is to get an external firewire drive, setup the system the way you want, and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to install it on all the other machines. There are a few settings you'll have to reset on every machine (some system preferences use the comp's MAC address for the file name). The only disadvantage is that you'll have to reclone every computer every time you update the master image.
