*sigh*

I hated Quark before I started working preflight. Now I have an infinite number more reasons to hate it.

So....basically, I try to place a file of some kind in Quark, and I'm consistently getting file not found errors...here's what I know so far..

-It seems to like to do this when the files are on the desktop....so I moved them to the root directory..and they still do the same thing, off and on.

-It happens with many different files, and many different types of files, and might start to happen with one that was previously placed no problem.

-it likes to do it if I open a file in, say, Acrobat, then close it, but leave Acrobat open. If I close Acrobat or whatever, it fixes the problem about one time out of five.

Other vital info...

System is an eMac running 10.2.6. Quark is running in classic, and Suitcase is generally running alongside it. I use InDesign as well (whenever I can) but it and Quark are never open at the same time. Quark and suitcase are running in Classic mode.

So there you have it, a puzzle almost worthy of a MUD. To the victor goes the Ring of Ezgiroth, which yields +1 Dexterity. Woo hoo!

Do you keep all of your linked files in one folder, or were/are they just on your Desktop or root dir? If they aren't in one folder, I would suggest trying that. And it's best to not have any subfolders within that folder. Quark is a bitch when it comes to finding linked files.

Good luck!
