Before I install the Office X, I'd want to make sure what version I currently have. Looking at "About..." didn't give much info. Any tip? Thx.

The Office 10.1.2 updater doesn't leave any obvious signs that it's been applied. The About... screeens and Finder's Get Info boxes all continue to say 10.1.1 (or even its "SR-1" predecessor in the case of Excel.) At least it's that way if 10.1.2 update was applied after 10.1.1; If you went directly from 10.0 to 10.1.2, I don't know what it says.
After the 10.1.4 update only Entourage's About box shows v10.1.4 (but not its Get Info dialog or any of the other Office suite apps.)
It's like MS wants the version to be a mystery.

I just applied the update. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Entourage all say 10.1.4 in the Get Info window.

Interesting. Immediately after I applied the update, when I looked at the info from the Admin account I installed with, it still said 10.1.1. But when I went back to my normal user account, it says 10.1.4. (Word's "About..." screen still insists it's SR-1, though.)
Does Finder cache that file version info someplace?

not sure if the finder caches it or what - but I for me PP & XL showed up as 10.1.4 where Word said 10.1.1
I logged out/in and now all are 10.1.4

Word's About box is still showing SR 1 on my machine, even after a restart. But the Finder shows 10.1.4. The About box must be cached somewhere.
