How can I type over (replace) text in appleworks?

even if you add it "I" I'm not sure your question is clear - you might want to explain it a bit more.

Like most other Mac applications...select the text you want to replace, type ... the new text will replace it. CmdZ will undo the damage when you make a mistake.

I know that. In windows there is an insert button on the keyboard and when you press it you replace the text.

I checked my Appleworks 6 Missing Manual and they don't describe any way to auto-replace. Looks like you have to select the text you want to delete first.
