Crap. I backed up my user folder to a .sit file so that I could keep everything together when I copied it to another hard drive on a Windows laptop I'm networked with.

Of course, to my greatest regret, the file won't expand again. With the Mac Stuffit expander, I just get Error #17537 and it halts after it expands a few files. On the Windows Stuffit standard suite in demo mode, the software just exits without an error message or anything while trying to expand.

Anybody know of a .sit recovery utitlity? Aladdin's own software can't fix it so I'm doubtful-but just in case...

I've had limited success with StuffCM (link) and it's ability to Convert to self-expanding archive... But it's only for OS 9 at the moment. But be sure to convert a copy of your archive in case it doesn't work.
