Is this program already out?? I see the Big Box deal from Emagic around but it includes Audio 5. I want to know if Logic Audio 6 is available in the States yet.

Not the bigger Gold or Pro packages just the cheaper one. I'm poor.

Thanks!

Not available yet.

Apple's Soundtrack ($299) looks like it might be a sort of light version of Logic though.

I'd wait a little while and see just how Apple/Emagic intend to deal with the consumer market.

Yeah, but Soundtrack is G4 only. Me and my lowly G3 ibook are not welcome. I did find someone selling Emagic Logic 6 Big Box on Ebay but I'm leary of that.

What do you think is going to happen with Apple's plan on Emagic?

Okay, so Logic Audio 6.0.1 is available for OS X. Are you just leery of buying via eBay? I can understand that, especially since you have no idea what the registration status might be. But then, I bought my stuff (LP6.1) directly from Emagic, so I really can't help you with that other than to say that I'd be queasy, too.

As for the future: Nobody knows, of course, but there's been much speculation about "iTracks" or so, an iApp along the lines of iPhoto and iMovie, free, included with the machine, giving people the ability for rudimentary music production.

I'm not sure whether such a program would make sense for Apple, and even *if* something along those lines is planned, there's no telling *when*.

I hope that was at least moderately helpful.

Cheers,

hey, thanks ... yeah it was helpful. Seeing as you live in Germany I think you may have an advantage on buying through Emagic. Every time I go to their online store I get re-routed to a different site and they only have 4 products available!

It'll be interesting to see if an 'iTraks' gets created, but if it does I wouldn't suspect that to happen for quite a while. But you never know.
But regarding Logic, do you like the program? Any blaring limitations or undeniably cool features about it?

Here's a great overview on Logic:

http://www.vtc.com/productdetail.php?sku=33439

The guy who did the tutorial posts at the http://www.osxaudio.com forums, where a lot of Logic expertise can be found.

Personally, I think it's an awesome piece of software.

To try out Logic 6 Platinum (and all itsinstruments) for 30 days with a good, clear introduction you could get this book:

Apple Pro Training: Logic 6

It's $39 and aimed at Logic learners.

Those links should get ya started
