Is it possible to install slackware 9.1 on an iMac 600MHz Snow? I have a spare partition that I used to have OS 9 on, but since I am not using it anymore I thought that I could install Linux just for fun =)

I made a search but didn't seem to find anything...

um. I would think as long as it's a PPC version it would work fine. I installed Mandrake awhile ago with no problems.

No,
slackware doesn't offer a ppc port at this time. If you want to install linux I would highly recommend Gentoo. It has one of the best package managers avalible (emerge), and has a strong ppc backing.

Other resources to be sure to look at:
http://penguinppc.org/ -- PPC linux central
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/ -- a ppc only distrobution
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ppc.php3 -- if this is your first time, mandrake is one of the most user-friendly distrobutions, you don't have to deal with the command line

I have a full time gentoo webserver running on a first generation iMac, so feel free to ask questions

If I am a linux retard which Live CD stage of gentoo do I download? I have a rev B imac and want to give it a shot. I have never had any luck with yellow dog it would never finish the install. Tried mandrake and I couldn't even burn a bootable CD tried toast and disc burner never seems to work at all, it has yet to complete a single burn.
