Thank you for your pre-order of TechTool Pro 4. We want to keep you informed about your order and expected shipping date for TechTool Pro 4.
Micromat had expected to release TechTool Pro 4 in the spring, 2003.
However, we have had to change the estimated release date to summer of
2003. We now hope to be shipping TechTool Pro 4 the end of September,
2003.
We apologize for this delay. We want to release the best program
possible
and it is taking longer to implement all the proposed features than
estimated. We appreciate your patience and understanding on this
matter and
will keep you notified of our progress.
Your order will ship by US Mail, unless an express shipping method was
selected (i.e., UPS Next-day, UPS 2nd-day or UPS 3-day). Should you
need to make a change in your shipping address, please reply to this
email or send
the corrected address to orders@micromat.com or call 707-566-3831.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.
Yours truly,
Micromat Notification Group

Proably the fact it's a disk utility and if they don't make it super-solid from the get go, they're in some serious trouble with users.
Also, with Apple continually releasing major OS updates each year, it's probably like trying to hit a moving target with disk utilities. I'd rather have a solid reliable Tech Tool 4 than a "take the life of your computer in your own hands" Norton Utilities...

True but this waiting is killing me. I hate using Norton with DiskWarrior.

But how much has Mac OS X changed from a disk util point of view? The biggest change would be the journaling filesystem that I believe is to be turned on by default in Panther.
My guess is that they are aiming to be 10.3 compatible from the beginning, which is a lot better than having a product come out before then and then have update it to be compatible with Panther.

Possibly. Though I think DiskWarrior is already compatible with 10.3 but I'm not sure. Either way once TTP4 comes out I can get rid of Norton.

Can someone explain what the pros and cons of having TTP4 and also having DiskWarrior 3? I KNOW I'll definitely need DW3. But what will TTP4 do that will be different or better? Thanks.

TTP4 has lots of hardware tests, and a disk defragger.
