I've got a LOT of bookmarks in Safari. I want to export some so my friend can import them. The deal is I only want to export a small fraction of my bookmarks, my Newspapers folder with about 23 links in it. Thus far I've not been able to figure out how to only export some of my bookmarks. I could go to each page in the folder and drag the link to a folder on the desktop. I was hoping however for a means to export them as an XML file my friend can very simply and easily import.

Obviously, I'm just a little bit biased, but... OmniWeb 4.5 can do this.

Download and launch it, then go to "Import Bookmarks...". It's under the "Edit Bookmarks" submenu in the "Bookmarks" menu (yeah, I know -- this isn't the best place in the world for it).

Choose "Safari", and then click "Import". The bookmarks window should come up with an "Imported from SafarI" folder selected.

Choose "New Bookmarks File..." from the "File" menu. Give it whatever name, and save it wherever. Drag whatever bookmarks or folders you want from "Imported from Safari" into this new, empty bookmarks window.

That's it! You're done! The file you saved earlier is just an HTML document with a hierarchical list of links. Send that to your friend.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking that I might be able to do it with a third party app of some kind. I knew Mozilla supported exporting bookmarks as HTML.
