Hi

I'm trying to get Apple Remote desktop to work with my mother's computer in Sweden. I'm in NYC. This is our setup:

My computer:

Powerbook G4 1ghz
wireless router (netgear) (two computers on network)
cable modem
dynamic IP address
Macos x .2.6

Her computer:
Powerbook G3 400mhz
dsl modem
router (two computers on network) D-link 604
dynamic IP address
Macos x .2.6

I've installed ARD administrator on my computer and the client version on hers. We also both have IP addresser so we know what are IP addresses are.

I figure her router is blocking me but I haven't been able to figure out how to open the port for me to use ARD. I keep getting a message that there is a communications error when I try to add her IP address to my list of clients.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Make sure that port 3283 is open.

- My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

I think it's UTP port 3283, not TCP.

Also, make sure that your Mom's computer's router is port-forwarding to the right machine.

However, even so, I think Remote Desktop has issues running across two computers each being served by a different DHCP server. Check the Apple support forums for this issue. I'm pretty sure it's been discussed there.
