I am confused on which version of Virtual PC I need to run on my Mac.

I am running Windows 2000 on my PC at work and I wanted to buy Virtual PC to run a couple of programs on my Mac. I went to CompUSA and the manager said that I could run my Windows 2000 programs on the Virtual PC Windows XP Home version.

Is this right? Would I not need the Win 2000 version? They did not have that version so I bought the XP Home. I have not opened yet in fear that it would not work.

I tried to find the answer from the mactopia sight, but they did not have all that much info on it.

Thanks for any help.

Ok, first off, there's no such thing as a "Windows 2000 program". All apps are Win32-based. There might be apps/tools that are built FOR Windows 2000 specifically, but they should all RUN on ANY Win32 platform.

That said, the bottom line is this - if you have to connect to a domain at work, you need XP Pro. Home won't allow you to connect to a domain easily, and when I say "easily", I don't mean it's a minor nusiance, it's a major one.

Absolutely not. Connecting to a domain is the absolute number one reason to get Pro.
