Over the last 2 days my Yahoo email account has been totally flooded with Spam emails that each contain large attachments ending in .pif. My account size is critical every morning.

I poked around and discovered that this the result of a PC Virus, but I keep gettings these emails. Is there a chance that I have been directly infected with the virus, or are the emails just being generated by infected PC users?

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Damn them for not making .pif compatible with OS X. We're missing out the fun

No, you haven't been infected, but someone using Windows with your address in their address book is infected.

Too bad there's not a way to filter this out of my Yahoo email acct. Nasty little thing!

[Edit:] Also found this CNET article saying that the SoBig virus is the largest virus so far and that the "people who wrote the Sobig family of viruses were learning with each variant" and are getting better at it. Wow.

I feel left out, not a .pif in sight... all these people around me getting them.

Guess all my friends are well protected... (either that or I'm not in their address books)

Or you have no friends.

*ducks*

Yeah, I've been relatively unscathed as well. At one of my accounts they just filtered out a dozen file extensions and started deleting tons of email, so I haven't gotten anything there. Annoying virus though.
