I have long a problems with the on-screen spacing between words in Word X, especially at certain zoom levels. At 125%, for instance, most of the words are so close together that it appears there is really no space at all, although there are some words with a lot of space between them. It is very hard to read.
At other zooms, things can look better, but there are always some words with very small or very large spacings between them.
I have tried using Quartz smoothing and without; the spacing remains the same. Also, playing with kerning doesn't make a difference. It affects the spacing slightly, but the overall inter-word spacing is no better.
Any suggestions?
