I have a "locked" ReadMe file that I cannot trash. It actually has the icon of a lock on the icon of the ReadMe file itself.

How do I get rid of it? I've gone to "Get Info" and unlocked it. I've used the disk utility to repair my permissions. Nothing seems to work.

Is there any way of permanently deleting this file?

Maybe you could boot the mac in OS 9, force-trash the file from there and reboot into X again? I tried it on mine and it worked OK.

I hope panther will fix those problems.

I don't know if Joe Blow even knows what permissions are, he wants to delete the file, on a computer he owns. He does not want to see a dialog saying him he can't.
