I just upgraded to the 7.0b player to see if it would improve performance but I noticed absolutely no improvement. Sometimes flash just chokes on intensive flash-enabled sites. There is no reason why flash player should run so slow on my DP 867 2GB ram. Heck, I've seen flash run on Pentium II classed machines with no major issues on even the most complex flash sites. Is this an issue with Macromedia not optimizing for OS X? If so, will it ever be fixed?

For my QS 733 7.0b1 and 2 have noticeably improved performance for flash intensive sites. Did you ever use v6? Talk about slow...but compared to the Windows version, v7 is still a little slower.

Can you link to a flash site that runs slow on your DP867? I've got a PC and Mac here so I can compare the two.

www.2advanced.com

which runs fine on my P4 1.6 with windoze XP pro. yes i agree that v6 is slow, but I can't tell a difference with v7. I'm running cable here so i know it isn't the connection.

I've got cable as well, so we can probably rule out the connection. However, that site seems to run pretty well here--considerably better than I would have expected. The only slowdowns that I'm noting are during the animations that occur after the webpage is setup, not the initial 'electricity running through circuitry' look. Where are you seeing the specific slowdowns, and have you tried reinstalling flash?

BTW, what browser are we talking about on the Mac side? I'm running that webpage in Safari.

The 1st beta was definitely faster than v6. The second beta sucked until a repaired permissions. Now it's back to normal.

I don't know about that man, it's been a known fact that flash runs slower on the Mac. I'm trying to figure out if it's the plugin, the browsers or the OS. And no, I did uninstall the previous version prior to installing a new one.

To the previous question:
I run it in both camino and safari, safari is definately faster but still gets caught up a bit at times
