This may seem silly, but I own Final Cut Pro 1, 2, and 3. I am sort of one of those guys who dabbles in things but never really goes whole hog. Anyway, long story short - I played around with FCP 1.2 on my old Mac and never really got into it. Then with the revolution of DV cams, it recently got exciting. I purchased the upgrades for v2, and v3 but never installed them due to not having a camera.

Now with a recently acquired Canon, I'm anxious to actually use the software.

Herein lies the problem.

I am using a dual 1.42GHz OSX10.2 and have managed to install the FCP1.2 in classic mode. Of course, to upgrade to v.2. or v.3 I have to register. Classic won't allow me to run v1.2 so that I can enter in my valid serial.

Arghhh is there some way around this? I know I could probably call Apple, but chances are they're going to ask me to upgrade to v4 and I have never got to really play around with 2 or 3.

Any ideas?

Are you sure the upgrade installer requires an older version to be installed (and have a serial # entered)?

Here's what I do: Download the updater for 3.0 to 3.0.4 and put the CD with 3.0 on it into the drive and install the updater. It will put the full version of 3.0.4 on your computer, and won't ask for older software or anything.

Call AppleCare Professional Video SupportLine: 1-800-800-APPL

Tell them your situation, and they'll send you a full FCP 3 version for $20.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.
