Are there any better alternatives to Toast? Is there anything similar to Nero on PC for mac?

Toast the *the* choice for Macs.....yes, there are others like Charismac's Discribe (which seems to get a bit of a bad rap sometimes although it is actually a pretty decent program save for being a bit overpriced perhaps) but if Apple's built-in disc burning doesn't do what you want then go with Toast for sure.

There are a couple, but Toast is by far the most popular.

Toast 6 is coming out shortly, and will (obviously) have more features than the current version.

What features were you specifically looking for? Most of what Nero does on the PC can be done with other apps on the Mac.

DiskCopy.app

This is what I do: I make .ISO files using command line apps such as `mkisofs' and then burn them with DiskCopy.app

All free, all good.

If you know how to make .iso files with `mkisofs' you can burn CDs that are bigger than 700M, plus you can get rid of all the hidden files [that your PC friends make fun of you about].

I think there are some GUI front ends for `mkisofs' etc. but I use the command line version.

There are an older version out for the Mac of the Nero software but it´s for version 9.0 of The MacOS.

Other good OS X alternatives:

1. Roxio Toast 5.2 (6.0 soon to be out)
2. Dragon Burn
3. Discblaze 2.0

4. CD Session Burner 2.0
5. Disc Burner 1.0.2 _
6. Laze E. 1.5b6 _
7. MissingMediaBurner 0.6.0

Check versiontracker.com for more info!
