I need to reinstall my software on my ibook.
I own Norton and Disk Warrior.

• How can I back up my Entourage files? Just drap them over to a Zip disk? How can I save my address book?

• how can I save my Internet Explorer bookmarks?

When I do finish backing up, what should I do, do get a clean install? Should I erase my hard drive using a certian program or just the Mac OS X start up CD?

Should I erase the harddrive, then use Norton or Disk Warrior before I install?

If I'm going ot go thorugh all this trouble, I want it to be worth it.

Thank you.

Entourage settings: ~/Documents/Microsoft Office Data.
Address Book: ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book; ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
IE bookmarks: ~/Library/Preferences/Explorer (actually, I'm not sure what the exact folder is called, but its in the preferences folder)

Just drag to a Zip Disk and you'll be fine. Just remember where to place the files once you are done installing.

You can erase the drive using the OS X Install Disc, just remember that if you plan on installing OS 9 later on the same drive to check the box that says "Install Mac OS 9 Drivers". Otherwise, erase and do a clean install.

Thanks for the tips.

So using the OS X install disc is the best way to go? Clean install formats the disk before it installs it I guess?

thanks,

take care
