I submitted to Apple feedback:

-I would like to see buddies grouped together by their respective groups much like how AOL Instant Messanger does as well as the other major instant messaging clients out there. It could be enabled by implementing an advanced buddy list option in the preferences.

-Support for other instant messaging protocols such as Yahoo! and MSN. I see the capabilities to add the screennames for these IM services in the address book card.

-Chat and IM logs in one file rather than separate files for each session (sometimes there are multiple files for one day). Store it all in one file similar to how Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc) does it.

-Better time stamping. Instead of just putting a time stamp every five minutes, include the option to put a time stamp for each IM sent and received. I find this very useful to monitor when chatting with friends.

Just wondering....

I think iChat AV has this already.

The rest of your suggestions seem reasonable, at least to me.

It DOES support groups but not all in one list.

WHAT I WANT is voice and videochat compatibility with ALL versions of AIM .. and any other client they support. That would make me run out and buy a mic very quickly.. there are sooo many people I'd want to talk to

I Think all of your comments are fantastic as far as sending the feedback to apple and such, except for the above. However much we would like to see iChat work with Yahoo!, MSN, etc. I don't think Microsoft would go fo it, especially since it doesn't look like we are getting a new version of IE, and We are already have a partner in AOL. MS likes to hold a grudge..if you read some of the news on the main page, I think I read something there about MS blocking Trillian from connecting after their next release. Unfortunate for everyone else that MS is all about themselves and not the user experience...oh wait...that's why windows XP needs to be updated 2-3 times per week.

-How pumped would you be driving home from work, knowing someplace in your house there's a monkey you're gonna battle?

I want encrypted chat for security purposes. The Windows version supports it with some configuration, but the Mac version should support it, and out of the box too. Click a little "lock" icon or something like Fire offers.

I heard a rumor that an upcoming version of iChat next year would support other protocols. It's really of no consequence to me, but I know some people have friends using other services.

Yeah, I guess you're right on that part. I guess I'm just being hopeful. At work I'm stuck without a Mac so I've been using Trillian and gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net) and it's convenient to have all IMs in one client.

Well, here's to hoping.......
