I have a network of about a dozen macs.

When one of my users launches Excel, he gets a "waiting" spinner for a while... and so do all other users on the network! Eventually, it complains about not being able to start auto-recovery and then announces that such will be off for this session. At which point the network returns to normal.

This does not happen when other users go into Excel.

What does it mean to start auto-recovery?
How would that result in tieing up the network?
What's it likely hanging on that no other computer is?

Any ideas?
