This has to be a common problem for new switchers from the PC, so apologies if there's an easy answer.

I have a new g4 powerbook, with Mail,
Entourage and Outlook Express as various installed mail programs. I also have a .pst file with all my email data in it, which i saved from the PC i used to have, which ran microsoft Outlook.

I tried importing the .pst file to all of these mail applications with no joy.

An application called Outlook2Mac is proposed elsewhere on this forum and at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper..._20411161.html but you need to have your PC up and running Outlook in order to select the folders, and i no longer have the PC...

My data is only in .pst format, not in a text file so i really have to use the .pst. Can anyone help?

There's a free way to do it, but it is very involved and not for the faint of heart. You're better off paying $10 for Outlook2Mac and finding a friend with a PC:
