Hi,
How would I go about turning lets say a 128x128pixel png into an icon ??

Should have come with your OS X CDs. Otherwise there are a couple shareware apps and PhotoShop filters that will do the trick.

i didnt get the developer tools with my origianl OS X install discs I only got 2 cd's and one called Apple hardware test.
Could you(Ozmodiar) please tell me which shareware apps will do the trick and tell me which photoshop filters can do it.

You may not need to download them - if your mac came with Jaguar on it look in the Applications folder for a folder called "additional installs" or something like that - it has the developerstool.pkg in.

Icon Builder X is a PhotoShop filter that will turn your PNG into an icon. It's shareware so you'll eventually have to pay for it if you like it, but I think it comes with a number of free trial uses.

look for pic2icon on version tracker.
Awsome app, essentially it creates icons of any graphics document. Thus create a PNG with a transparent background. Drag it onto the app. It'll launch and your file will have that icon. Then copy and paste
