Recently our campus network went offline due to the M$ worm problems. Today when I attempted to access my FTP sites (to upload web stuff) via Fetch or Omniweb, both will hang while attempting to retrieve the directories. I rebooted my system only to find that didn't work. I also re-authenticated myself on the campus firewall but to no avail.

I also tried to access these sites through the Terminal with no luck.

I also noticed when trying to access the web-based file managers I get a "502 Proxy Error." What is that supposed to mean and is this problem on my end?

Edit: Config
iBook 600 10.2.6
T1 (Campus network, firewalled)

Thanks...I was suspecting the campus network.

BTW, FTP was working prior to the network going down, and I haven't done anything to mess up my system.

I'll call them tomorrow.

Update:

I tried calling the help desk, only to get a canned recording. My voice mail was never returned.

I also tried starting up my own FTP server. Funny, I could access it from Fetch and Transmit just fine, even with my personal firewall activated.

Now, here's what's happening with the other FTP sites I attempt to connect:

I have been able to successfully connect, until it tries to list the files on the remote end...then the program hangs (both Fetch and Transcript). I even tried to access these servers from the Terminal...no luck there...I get disconnected.

I contacted those sites...they said their FTP servers are working just fine.

If it is indeed my campus firewall, is there a workaround?
