I was trying to use my powerbook as DVD player. The plan is to use the svhs output to show the dvd on my TV.

First the menubar and controlpannel of the apple dvd-player was all screwed up (I had to fight with different Settings first: PAL/NTSC).Apple DVD-Player then quit saying that it wont run in my setup.

Has anyone any Idea? Does it make a difference if I sync the internal and external screen or does it not matter. Where else can i tinker with settings or is it just not possible to run a dvd via the external svhs.

Thanks in advance

I'm assumming you mean S-Video out?

Heres what I do:
Connect my TV to my Powerbook via S-Video.

Go into Systsem Preferences, Click Detect Displays.

Go into arrangement, drag the menu bar from my main screen (powerbook) to the smaller TV screen.

Launch DVD Player, insert DVD and it plays on my TV.

This is video card dependant I assume, so your video card maybe lacking if this doesn't work.

It seems that switching the system from pal to ntsc wasn`t that seamless. After rebooting it works as you describe it. BTW I have a 12'' PB.

Has anyone played with the additional TV Settings in Monitors (two checkboxes I think optimizing Videooutput).

Thanks

Is there a reason you drag the screens around rather than just use mirroring?
