I posted about this before, it seems my Helvetica font is messed up somehow and replaces it with Helvetica Fractions! Since I never liked math anyway, this is doubly frustrating.
Yesterday I got a pop-up saying my Safari Beta expired. Uh..ok. So I re-downloaded it. Now funkier things are happening! I can't read a lot of pages (more than before) because of this Fraction font. How do I fix this? I also can't use iChat because it does it in the application as well. This has been going on for a while now, I just kind of shrugged it off, but now that I've re-downloaded Safari it seems more and more pages are un-readable (is that a word?).
Help!
Here is what it looks like:

You are not alone. My G4 and my G5 running panther are doing this. For the life of me I can't figure it out. Mail, Safari, and ichat are screwed up. IE (yuck) doesn't seem to have this trouble. I can't find a system preference to fix this...

Anybody know?

I went into Font Book (OS 10.3 only) and disabled the Helvetica Fractions font, but this disabled most of the rest of Helvetica (doh). Now my Safari seems to display text better, but still not quite right. At least it is readable now!

Now, if I can only find the system wide preference that is trying to display everything in Helvetica Fractions... grrrrrr

i had some font issues with safari once. i created a new account to see if that user had the same problems and it did not. i narrowed it down to some font corruption. i just logged in as root and copied the fonts from the new user account to mine and everything worked perfectly.
