I just reinstalled OS X.2, but I forgot to deauthorize my iTunes account before installation. After I reinstalled OS X, it asked me to authorize the account, so I did.
Is my computer now authorized twice?

I don't think so. I seem to remember somewhere that it's based on your MAC address

No, you're fine. It is by MAC address, so you haven't used up any additional authorizations.

What if you have two MAC address? Does it use the built in ethernetID or the active TCP/IP one?

It uses the MAC address of the builtin NIC on the motherboard.

Yes, your computer is now authorized twice. You can see this in iTunes.
Go to the iTMS and click your username to log in. On the Apple Account Information page you can see how many computers you have authorized. If you have more than one, and don't need more than one authorized email iTMS support and ask them to deauthorize the computers.

Oh, thanks for directing me to that page. It does say, though, that I have only 1 computer authorized so all is apparently well.

So long as you're not swapping out motherboards, you're fine. An OS install won't affect it as it is tied to the MAC address of your on-board ethernet.
I've had my mobo replaced twice in my iBook and each time it's happened unexpectedly (does anyone really plan for a mobo failure?) and I've had to contact ITMS customer service to have them remove my old MAC address so I can authorize the new one. Pretty painless if you do have to do it, but it's not necessary for an OS reinstall.

That's good to know. I reinstalled Jaguar and forgot to deauthorize before doing so and then had by powerbook authorized twice. I sent email to support and they helped me out.
