Saying that As a valued customer who has expressed an interest in using QuarkXPress on a secondary computer, we would like to
extend the opportunity for you to participate in a limited test of Quark Mobile Licensing.

But it will cost 75.00… for a limited test? Yes, Quark, unbelievable!

to betatest OS X you have to pay Apple $1000 bucks.

but yeah I understand your frustration. still - if you use XPress 6 this is probably worth it.

Not only can you buy the Adobe Design collection (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) for about the same amount as Quark, Adobe also allows you to install these on a desktop as well as a laptop.

Not only can Quark not get their product activation to Work properly (see http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/main_...fm?NewsID=6722 or http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/news_story.php?id=46868) but they will now charge you even more for the same privelege (that's how they see it surely) in a TEST?!

Bring on InDesign 3, which will blow this baby out of the water!
Always on the run...

I've switched from Quark to InDesign about a year ago. Never looked back. If I can possibly help it I never will use Quark again.

No, you don't have to pay Apple 1000 dollars bucks to beta test OS X. http://appleseed.apple.com. You do, however, have to pay money to Apple to become part of the ADC Select/Premier program, but that's for developers not for joe public wanting to get copies of beta software.

Reply back saying since you are doing their testing work for them, they should pay you $75.

Good answer. You might also want to mention that you can have a less restrictive license with the Adobe apps. See what they say to that.

How can this be worth it? Even if you make your living on XPress, it's still a giant friggin rip off. Quark has this sick vision of their users being made of money. They think they can do whatever the hell they want to their customers, and expect them to bend over and take it. This will be their demise. Mark thy words.
