hi there. i want to start developing a few sites, one for me to host a photography site, a site for my family and probably a few others for some friends businesses. while i am familiar with html and basic web technologies, i have not developed any sites in more than 10 years, and back then they were pretty basic.

my question is what web dev software would you guys recommend? i am looking into dreamweaver, which most of my buddies love, but the interface is a mess (to me) and it sure isn't cheap. haven't really considered anything else yet. ultimately, i would like the software to be at least somewhat easy to use/learn, requiring tweaks to html while it takes care of most the authoring. i would like to be able to borrow online java and flash and things like that to integrate into my site.

thanks for your recommendations!

SubEthaEdit - (formerly Hydra). Nothing beats a text editor for web development.

If you just want to create some galleries, you could do worse then the HTML export option of iPhoto.

i want to do more than create galleries, as there will be a site wrapped around the photos. the other sites i am thinking about doing have no galleries at all.

in my experience, text editors are great if you want to author the whole site in html yourself.... which i totally do not want to do (i am not an html jockey).
