Safari is a great browser, but take a look at this ( www.myie2.com )
it's got everything safari has and much much more. is there anything resembling this for os X? i've heard some buzz about firebird, and tried it, but didn't like it very much. myie is more of a compelte package, you get most of the good stuff in the package, no from slowly looking for plug-in modules.

well? any ideas? i sure hope myie2 can be ported to mac. it's such a great browser.

That is just a refined (and much improved) front end for IE on windows, similar to what OmniWeb is doing using Web Core.
It's really what Win IE6 should be.

Not really related to Mac, but thanks for that Link. I never really liked Mozilla nor its descendents (i.e. Phoenix) But MyIE2 was good enough to replace IE. I recognize that it is using the IE engine, but the UI features (tabs, popup blocking, etc.) are things I wanted. Nice for my XP box.

That screen capture represents how horrible the Windows UI can be.

I know you can limit the number of buttons showing, their placement and such but come on, if you're displaying everything in the UI you get a horrid visual mess that leaves you with like 40% of the window for actually viewing content.

It's disgusting.

On Windows browsing in general, I use Firebird. Yeah, the plug-ins can be a pain in the ass to deal with sometimes but at least I know I'm not perpetuating a Microsoft exclusive web.

Browsers using the IE renderer just help to keep developers coding platform specific. If you're going to use an alternative browser then use a real alternative browser, not an IE front end.

you don't really need ALL the buttons. the ones that i really need, and really also the ones Safari's showing only takes up about 10% of the screen. and i must also point out, the cap looks like it was taken on a low res monitor. therefore the buttons and sidebar looks enromous, while it's really not. and by default, myie2 doesn't come like that. it's with most of the extra buttons enabled.

like this:

I sort of agree with Mike S. about not using IE, and I use Firebird as my main browser on my XP box at work. But as a web designer I need to check stuff using the IE engine, and some sites use MS crap and require IE, so this fits that bill nicely.
