Hi!
My Mail.app has forgotten the preferences of the program and now it is ignoring all the stuff in the /Users/myname/Library/Mail folder.
If I start now Mail the app is telling me that I did not create an account until now. I have to fill in the smtp and pop information.
I looked the mail Preferences up but there are no hints about my old mail boxes. I am not able to edit the XML tags of my com.apple.mail.plist.

Do I have to create a new account and than I will be able to import my old mail boxes or is there any other better way to reactivate my old mail boxes.

Thank you all for your help.

Regards,
Matthias
P.S. I am using a 15´´ Titanium 550 mHz, 512 MB RAM, MacOS X 10.2.6 and Mail 1.2.5 (v552)

Your mail will be back when you restore Mail's preferences from a backup.

This happened because you ran out of disk space. Don't do that again. Bad user.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

If you have no backup, (you're a bad user , and) you can just re-import your mailboxes.

No computer OS likes running out of hard disk space. Panther (Os X 10.3) finally adds a warning when disk space gets too low.

You will probably notice a lot of other programs' preferences having been reset, as well.

Are more than 500 mb for MacOS X not enough?
Thanks!

If you open Terminal and type
Code:
ls -l /var/vm
[hit return], you'll get a listing of how many swapfiles you are currently using, and how many bytes they use on the disk.

I'd go for more than a 1GB of free space...

Yes, 500MB is not enough free space (or at least is very borderline).

as the above poster said, try to keep about a gig free.
