Hi,
I started using Mail as soon as I got it, and was impressed at the way it filtered spam. I got to the point I didn't worry a lot about giving out my .mac email account to various web pages.

However, over the last several weeks, I have noticed that I have started to get spam, and Mail does not seem to be able to learn it. Interestingly, some of the spam seems to be coming from spoofed .mac accounts, which I have never seen before.

Has anyone noticed this also?

I noticed that spam recently (since a few months) adds "faked words" to the subject and message text. Like sjhdwe, adfasdfas, dfjise, etc.

I believe they do this to increase the number of "good" words against the "bad" words (penis, enlargement, etc.) so that they come through spam filters.

When these faked words have been included in spam the accuracy of Mail's spam filter has gone down dramatically. But I think it has meanwhile gotten better again.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

I'm having the same problem. Mail's letting thru more than its catching. It seems to be learning though....... albeit very slowly. One program I've been impressed with is Eudora. It's catching nearly everything Mail doesn't.
