the sites folder on my iDisk seems to have been password protected somehow without my knowledge. I'm not really sure how or why it happened, but I want to return it to normal, because I can't use my iDisk to serve files all of a sudden, and it's pissing me off.

Since you have a .mac account, you should log into their .mac subscription forums and tell them you want your password removed on your sites folder. A Moderator will usually process your request in 24 hours. I had a problem with BackUp once and they erased the backup folder in my iDisk within 24 hours cause it was corrupted. They're pretty good about it.
