Still no support for https through a proxy. Thankfully Safari 1.1 has this functionality. I was just hoping to be able to actually use Safari before Panther was released.

I upgraded to 10.2.8 and my Safari still shows v85 in the about box, not 85.5. Who is seeing 85.5 and why?

I'm showing v85.5 indeed....however, I am sad to find out that the "Outlook Web Access" bug is NOT fixed in this release; however, has been fixed by evidence of Hyatt's post a few months back....very aggravating!

My About Safari shows 1.0 (v85.5) after the upgrade.

Hmmm. I updated two other computers in the office to 10.2.8 and they have v85.5 in Safari's About Box.

I'm guessing Safari was running on my Powerbook while Software Update was downloading/installing the 10.2.8 update and therefore couldn't update my Safari?

So I thought...I'd just copy the Safari from one of the other computers that had v85.5, but upon opening that version on my Powerbook, it still says v85 in my About Box!! Anyone know what's up? It must be something in the Webkit? Maybe?

How do I get updated because Software Update says I'm up to date. Where is the downloadable combo update for 10.2.8. I'll try that next.

People who updated but don't have v85.5: Info like that gets cached, so until you reboot or something, it likely won't show up right.

Hey!!

Turns out I do have 85.5

A friend ran into the same issue - turns out the update put it in the Applications folder - I have a "browsers" subfolder in applications and the installer must not have checked there.

Running the copy in Applications folder and not from the icon on my dock has 85.5 in the about box.

I hope you know that whenever an Apple updater updates an App then it will only look in the Applications folder.

Lesson learned: Keep all Apple apps in their original spot and make aliases to them in your substructure.

It's version 85.5, and my Safari now feels faster when loading webpages, and moves smoother as well. I'm happy.

Hey all-
I'm happy to report that with Safari v85.5, ESPN.com is now fully compliant! Before, the first part of the page loaded fine, but scrolling down revealed that the background disappeared. This is now gone! Yay Apple! (Sorry to sound like a cheerleader, but i'm really psyched). Any other changes in rendering that anyone has noticed?

On a related note....where is the ESPN Motion compatibility for OS X? It was promised and "currently testing" phase months ago...

Huh? I use OWA all the time. It displays emails a bit screwy, but it works fine.

I hope it's a bit more bloody stable than 1.0.... if my Safari is anything to go by. Either that or 1.1 is put on general release soon.

I don't know why they've been hoarding the bug-fixes for so long.

Stability hasn't changed for me. ie. Very stable, but not 100% stable.

Compatibility hasn't changed for me (but then again I don't read ESPN.com). There are a few sites that I visit that are a bit quirky still.

I guess they're putting most of their development into Panther's version, but I would hope that a 1.1 update would appear at some point for Jag too.

here is a little something, every time I copy an image from safari without downloading and opening in Preview, the image is upside down. Every other app handles copy/paste smoothly.

Anyone else have this problem/feature?

Thanks for the auto rotate feature apple.

I noticed the same on my site. It doesn't cut off the background to the initially visible area anymore. About time because the bug was introduced after beta 2
