It's pretty, but I threw it out when it consistently gobbled over 5% of my precious CPU power.

I use MenuMeters.

iPulse is unnecessarily complex for a simple software

You don't mind losing 5% of your CPU daily?

For me, hell no.

I wish menu meters people made dock meters. I want the goodness of menu meters in the dock.

I keep changing mind though, whether I prefer this stuff in the dock or menu bar. Still not totally sure. iPulse is just too messy though.

iPulse is just a waste of resources.

iPulse2 is apparently coming soon.

I wonder why they're coding an update to this.

For a short while in the 10.1 days I used a menubar deal that showed CPU usage. Then I realized it was worthless.

The problem with CPU usage showers is that they don't tell you anything you can't already discern. If my system is slowing to a crawl, I don't need a big red bar to show me. I can feel slowdown in the response times and I can see it in the GUI. On top of that, all of the CPU usage monitors take around 5% cpu time or more, so they are just unnecessarily slowing down the system.

If I feel slowdown now, using top in the terminal can reveal exactly what process(es) are busy, inefficient or frozen. And using kill can fix things.

CeePeeYou is just too useful.. for its price anyway..

And yes, CPU usage monitoring is good.

When you want to know how many % iTunes take, etc etc.

Maybe they should cry and STFU, end developing and go to another market, maybe selling fruits...

Or maybe they code because they want to, and because they can.

Maybe they try harder to be better, instead of giving up.

Nah I only was very amused reading such a comment from a developer itself.

Like nforcer said, that can generally readily be discerned by feel, or at need be done better in top. Besides, I don't very often find myself wondering how many CPU cycles a particular app is consuming right this minute.

Of course, you don't do anything where CPU usage is critical.

When you're doing digital media stuff, 5% CPU usage extra can mean losing an audio track or two, or dropped frames.

Yea, that's what I use. It's simple and clean and just enough info. If I need more I can always run top.
