Ok, so I tried the old "set-the-clock-to-the-future" trick to reinstall the Flash trial that I had installed previously.
I did this because I never had the chance to really try Flash MX 2004 within the trial period, I completly forgot about it.
Now i am not able to try it at all.
Now, this really got me thinking about how Flash knows i tried to install it in the future. Where on my computer is this info stored?
Anyway, does anyone know if Flash MX2004 handles importing shapes with gradient from Illustrator well? I really need to know this before i shell out the $$$ for an upgrade from MX.

Couldn't answer you there.
As for resetting a demo period, that is not an appropriate question for the MacNN forums, and I predict that a moderator will be here to lock this thread.

Hey, I want to know how to reset demos too! Just curious, not that I don't pay for stuff.
Here is an example of something similar that perplexed me:
I recently had to reinstall my HD, I had to delete everthing. I backed up some specific things, such as application preferences, iTunes, etc. When I downloaded the trial version of a Freeverse game, Solace, it remembered how many tries I had left before the program expired! How did this happen?
I have two theories:
Solace hid a file in my preferences somewhere which got backed up and everytime it starts up it finds this counter file.
or
Freeverse keeps track of IPs that download demos from their website. Then the games would have to secretely communicate with Freeverse how many times they are started. Then when that same IP tries to download the demo again, Freeverse can tell the new demo how many free tries are left.
Since I'm not a software expert I really can't think of anything else. Maybe I should do a search for the file name and see what it brings up. Of course I doubt Freeverse would makes things that easy!

Most of those programs hide files in preferences or elsewhere in your home directory.

Sorry, as I posted earlier, MacNN does not support "resetting" software.
