Hey:

Like it says, I've got a disk image that has been segmented into dmgparts. I know if I double-click the first one, Disk Copy will create and mount the full disk. However, the full disk I have should not be mounted as this will change it's structure. I've tried to create a full disk with Drop DMG (which didn't mount it), but it looks to be about 300 MB too small, and also is not recognized by OS X when I insert the burned CD. I've googled, and only come up with a link that says I should use "create disk from parts" (or something) via Disk Copy's menu, but all this does is create a disk with all the dmgparts on it.

Any suggestions? There's gotta be a way to recombine this _without_ mounting the disk...right?

Just use disk copy to burn the image without mounting it.

Whenever I downloaded the Panther beta, mounting the full disk did not "change it's structure". What are you talking about?

Try converting the image to a different format. I like the "CD/DVD Master" option, because I can then take the resulting file and burn it on my PC (no burner on my Pismo). Just be sure to rename the resulting file to ".iso" from ".dmg"

Unless the image is read/write, mounting it will have no effect on it. Even if it is read/write, mounting it will not break the image. The most that will happen is that you might add a .DS_Store file to the image.

I think this whole paranoia about mounting images before burning them (e.g. OS builds) is a carryover from OS X PB and 10.0 era when people were downloading non-Apple made build images in OS 9. Those are the images that would be corrupted, not the build images made by Apple.
