Anyone know how to block the IPs in the PeerGuardian database? Is there a program, or an easy way? And yes, i'd use IPFW (the MacOS X/FreeBSD firewall), but to make 672 rules, that's excessive and slows IPFW.

peerguardian is an app for windows that blocks RIAA, MPAA, enforcement IPs, and the IPs of others opposed to P2P, as to avoid them detecting/tracking/reporting/sueing you. It's not 100% reliable, but it certainly helps. www.methlabs.org/methlabs.htm (do not use Windows InternetExplorer to view). They offer databases of the IPs, available as plain text-

There is a PeerGuardian app for OS X, I don't know where to find it. I don't have it, but I'll look.

k, thanks

there's no mention of non-windows on their site, so i don't believe the OS X client would be official. can't find anything on google either.

I've used IPFW with about 2800 rules, which was terrible, but possible. I don't know how <1000 rules would work out, i'll have to try it nextweek. I guess for now, the safest way to P2P is on Windows (patched/firewalled/in_emulation).

just as an aside, the newest version of KazaaLite K++ (kazaalite.tk) uses the PeerGuardian database.

The OS X version is called PeerVanguard. You can get it from the mac.torrentskickass.com BitTorrent tracker.
