Please forgive me for such a stupid question. I hate it when I see something that should be so obvious, but I can't find the answer on my own.

In the itunes main window and main listing of songs, in the column labeled "Song Name", what does the checkbox do?

You would think that it would be simple to find in the "Help" menu but I didn't have any luck.

It turns a song on/off for all kind of stuff – playing, importing from CD, moving to iPod etc.

Just check it off if you don't wish to listen to that song tonight. And check on some other day if you feel like to listen to it again !!

Another tip: if you want them all off you don't have to click them all. Command-click one and they all go. Took me ages before I realised that.
